Urgent request to ALL friends before Jan 23, 2026:
Please provide a public comment to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management proposal (BOEM-2025-0483-0001) urging them to NOT grant new offshore drilling licenses along the California coast. There are SO many reasons why we want to stop this: it is illegal as the areas are Marine Protected Areas, they would threaten our sensitive marine ecosystems, impact local fishing and tourism industries, go the opposite direction from growing renewable energy AND, we don’t need to provide additional licenses as there are many currently not used. This is another method of retribution from this administration towards our BLUE state of CA.We attended a seminar hosted by local government officials and others (including MBA) last night. They have banded together to work to block any proposal through ordinances, etc. BUT, with a TON of comments to the current proposal, hopefully we can get the California areas taken off the proposal in this round of public comment (which ends Jan 23).
Go to SaveMyCoast.org, the organization created by the group of local government officials, to learn more. When ready, go to Get Involved -> Comment on the National OCS Leasing Program and leave your comment. They make it easy by providing text you can use/modify. You can remain anonymous with your text, if you wish. I just put in initials…
JAN 23 is the deadline!! Do it NOW! And share the information freely.
